The A To Z Of Controversy’s Favourite Child Kangana Ranaut!
Kangana does not mince words, is as straight as an arrow and a powerhouse of talent. She has been called a motor mouth and a performer in the same vein. We dissect the A to Z of the lady on the eve of her birthday
A – AANAND L
RAI. ‘A’ in Kangana’s life could and should only be Aanand L Rai, the man who
changed the trajectory of Kangana’s career. It would be prudent to say that the
escape velocity that Kangana required to propel her to stardom was Aanand L
Rai.
B – BADASS. “Mr
Karan Johar, I was playing the badass card, not the victim card,” that’s
precisely what Kangana told a Mumbai tabloid when Karan Johar hit back at her
on her ‘nepotism’ comment.

C – CONTROVERSY.
Kangana and controversy go together or should we rather say – gel together.
Kangana’s entire career is replete with controversial episodes, be it leaving
Karan Johar red-faced during his own show or having no qualms about her
statement of not working with the Khans.
D – DEVGN. When
Kangana expressed and poured out her love for Ajay Devgn to a scoop magazine
many moons ago, it was fire all over. All’s well in Devgn’s paradise now.
E – ENGLISH.
Kangana was once mocked for her English, and after her many trips to Paris and
NY and KWK sets, she can now confidently cross her ‘T’s and dot her ‘I’s,
though her accent still remains a mystery.
F – FASHION
DIVA. Possibly, she is the only one in the business who can give Sonam a run
for her money when it comes to fashion. Blame it all on her low profile attitude,
Sonam gets to walk the red carpet at Cannes every year.
G – GUJARATI.
Yes, that’s what she will appear as in her next screen outing. After Rangoon,
her next release will be Simran which will show her as a Gujarati immigrant in
America involved in nefarious activities.

H – HRITHIK
ROSHAN. It was a perfect plot. Two stars in love with each other. A third party
intervenes (read: a hacker). Leaks out intimate messages and videos. The world
gets to know. Law suits follow. Cyber crime department gets involved.

I – I LOVE NY.
Probably the only film which Kangana will never show to her grand kids. Why?
Could it be the plot of the film, her terrible performance or was it Sunny Deol
all heart and not hathoda?
J – JULIA. There
was much anticipation about Kangana basing her role of Julia in Rangoon on
Fearless Nadia (a character many in the film industry have been toying to make
film on). The hard work and the effort had no takers.
K – KHANS. Still
remains an enigma why she has never worked with the Khans in her entire film
career. Will she ever?
L – LIFE IN A
METRO. Anurag Basu’s take on life in a metro encompassed all the flavours that
life has to offer. Few years later, life in a metro offered Kangana love, lust,
jealousy, success… possibly just about everything.
M – MAHESH
BHATT. Mahesh Bhatt was the one who introduced Kangana to the Tinsel town. We
only reckon that Bhatt Saab is her friend, philosopher and guide.
N – NEPOTISM.
One comment on nepotism from Kangana possibly occupied much space in newspapers
than her month-long promotional activity for Rangoon. Kangana accused
Karan Johar of nepotism at his own backyard and the initial furore soon assumed
the shape of a debate. Last heard, Manoj Bajpayee thanked Kangana for
highlighting nepotism in Bollywood at an event.
O – OUTSIDER.
She personifies the quintessential outsider who made it big.
P – PARIS.
Kangana once took French classes with the sole purpose of shifting bag and
baggage to Paris as a model.

Q – QUEEN. Queen
brought Kangana in the limelight. It brought to the forefront the fact that
here is an actress who is a powerhouse of talent. It also brought Kangana
plethora of awards. It brought a change.
R – RANGOON. The
success of this film would have made Kangana sort of invincible. But this was
not to happen. Coming back with towering success and then hitting dirt must
have hurt her to no end.

S – SELF MADE.
Kudos to this woman of substance for making it all alone in an industry, which,
according to her, is ‘nepotistic’. The journey from Himachal to Delhi and
finally to the Maximum City was fraught with danger. She overcame all.
T – TANU WEDS
MANU / TANU WEDS MANU RETURNS. These two films will always remain special in
Kangana’s life. What better compliment than media calling her ‘lady Aamir Khan’
after the release of Tanu Weds Manu.
U – UNGLI. Yes,
this is pure trivia stuff. This is the only film which links Kangana to Karan
Johar. Kangana was part of Ungli which in turn was produced by Karan Johar’s
Dharma Productions.
V – VIKAS BAHL.
Queen was directed by Vikas Bahl, do we need to add more.
W – WON. Three
National Awards for someone who started her journey in Bollywood as recent as
2006 is surely a big deal. It is a matter of prestige if the shelves in her
Mumbai house are big enough to fit in three National Awards.
X – XENA, THE
WARRIOR PRINCESS. The only Hollywood analogy I could draw of Kangana. A strong
female protagonist and the journey of a farm girl to a warrior princess. Can’t
you see the resemblance for God‘s sake?
Y – YOGA. This
is something she can’t do without. The teachings of Swami Vivekanand have a
very prominent part to play in this.
Z – ZARINA
WAHAB. Possibly the only lady from the film industry who will never forget and
forgive her. No prizes for guessing the reason.
